Real Weddings in LB: Michelle Hui

Flowers, getting all dolled up, and of course, the heartfelt moments. What’s not to love? Weddings are a wonderfully beautiful affair. Yet, every bride can attest to that fact that wedding planning can often get a little overwhelming.

In our latest episode of Real Weddings in LB, Michelle shares her first-hand experience of pulling together her dream wedding, all while being based overseas. As challenging as that may have been, having the support of her partner and faithful #bridetribe made all the difference. Let’s dive in!

Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about your wedding colours/theme?

I’ve always imagined a wedding with shades of pink, peach, cream, gold and a pop of red! Not forgetting some navy blue to balance things out 😋

Q: What was the inspiration behind them?

I just love the way these colours come together to create a vibrant yet romantic and elegant look.

Q: How did you decide on your wedding venue?

I’ve always wanted to have my wedding in a vineyard or close to the sea. W Singapore, Sentosa Cove had a lovely solemnisation area overlooking the water, and a gorgeous ballroom (we loved) which could comfortably accommodate all our guests. Most importantly, the food was good! And we could opt for free flow peking duck!

Q: We’re so honoured to have been a part of your special day! Why did you decide to buy LYLAS for your bride tribe?

I’ve always been a fan of Love, Bonito, and love the quality, comfort and sophisticated look of your bridesmaids dresses! More importantly, my girls loved it! It fit them perfectly and was very flattering. I knew it was ‘the one’ when i saw it!

Q: Celebrating your big day means making tons of decisions. What was your favourite part of the planning experience?

I think it would have had to be sitting down with my then fiancé and different bridesmaids dreaming and visualising what the wedding could/would look like it! It’s like you have an empty canvas and endless options!

Going for ballroom classes too (for our first dance), was definitely the most enjoyable for me.

Q: What did you not like about the planning experience & how did you work through it?

I have to say, the planning process was pretty tedious! I was also based overseas until 2 months before the wedding, so that presented its own set of challenges. Thankfully, a lot of planning can be done online; and I was very blessed to have very reliable and thoughtful bridesmaids, family and friends who helped us throughout this process.

Q: You and your hubby are adorable! Who was the most nervous on the big day?

A: We would both contest to being the most nervous! We had a lot of things to remember at different stages of the day like our personalised vows and dance steps. I think there was also the uncertainty that anything could go wrong!

Q: If you could relive any moment during your wedding day, which would it be?

I actually loved every single part of that day! Seeing our plans come to life and being able to celebrate our special day with friends and family made me really really happy.

Q: Any final tips for other brides-to-be?

I think it’s important to find a balance between having the ‘perfect’ wedding and planning a meaningful celebration of you and your partner’s journey! On the actual day, remember to pause, take time to celebrate with your husband and take in everything that is happening. It will fly by in a flash!
